Mayank Sharma is a passionate environmental science student currently pursuing his M.Sc. in Environmental Science at MDS University, Ajmer. He holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics.
Mayank has enriched his academic journey with specialized training, including a Diploma Course in Basics of Ornithology and a Certificate Course in Birding, both contributing to his growing expertise in avian studies.
His practical exposure is equally impressive. He participated in a status survey of the critically endangered bird, the Lesser Florican, conducted by the Bombay Natural History Society in the Ajmer-Kekri agro-pastoral landscape in September 2023. He further honed his field skills at the WCB Research Foundation and IBA (USA)-organized workshop on sloth bear conservation held in Mount Abu in April 2025 and a biodiversity documentation training hosted by the ICFRE-Institute of Forest Biodiversity in Hyderabad (Sept 2024).
Mayank's fieldwork includes participation in bird assessment surveys at Chhatrasagar Reservoir under the Wildlife Conservation Trust’s ecosystem restoration program, and a hands-on workshop on snake rescue, organized by the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Rajasthan Forest Department. Additionally, he explored urban ecological issues through a training program on water services for informal communities, jointly organized by the Ajmer Municipal Corporation and PRIA.
In terms of technical proficiency, Mayank is skilled in tools essential for environmental research, such as MAXENT software, QGIS basics, PAST software, physiochemical analysis, camera trapping, photography, and bird identification. His diverse academic background and active field involvement highlight a promising career in conservation science and environmental research.
